Morden SMEP comprised of the provision of new electrical and mechanical services as well as modifications to the existing. As Morden is the last station on the Southern end of the Northern Line work was restricted by very short engineering hours – typically we achieved 2½ hours work per shift
All switchrooms have been upgraded and new multi-compartment cable containment provided throughout the station. New lighting has been integrated into with the cable management system (CMS) in the Ticket Hall
Additionally mechanical services to staff areas have been installed and commissioned. These include
- Provision of a tempered supply and extract ventilation to the Ticket Office and Station Control complete with 1hour dampers where.
- A split system comfort cooling system is provided to the Station Control Room
- New water tank and associated pipework.
Additionally we were employed by Tubelines to carry out the Comms cable installation on behalf of IPS.
As of Feb 2006 work is progressing on the Step Free Access project which provides a new footbridge and 2 No MIP lifts. Emico are providing all services associated with the lifts and new lighting and power to the Overbridge and all other areas affected by the SFA project so that all work integrates with the SMEP project.
